Africa Information Technology Initiative MIT
The Africa Information Technology Initiative is a group that encourages undergraduate students in Africa to develop skills in information and communication technology. The main channel for this goal is sending students and instructors from MIT to African universities to teach classes and organize business competitions, networking events, and lectures. African partner universities are also given the resources necessary to continue some aspects of these programs.
Since its inception in 2000, the organization has enabled 100 MIT affiliates to teach over 1200 African students in Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, and Zambia about technology and entrepreneurship.
The group is planning on expanding its program to Southeast Asia in the near future.
