No, Chocolate City is not the name of a house that loves chocolate…Chocolate City is a living group located in the top three floors of New House 1 and it is a brotherhood of students and alumni who identify with black culture. Chocolate City was established in 1975 and it's mission is to promote and encourage social, intellectual, and leadership development for each brother.
As a freshman, when you get into Chocolate City, you attend a 4 year planning seminar to plan out their four years in their major. Chocolate City also holds an annual faculty reception where the brothers can be able to get to know and be able to interact with the faculty and staff of MIT. The house also offers freshmen study sessions before each of their exams to ensure that they are well prepared.
Chocolate city also hosts some of the largest social events on campus filled with MIT as well as non MIT students. At the beginning of every semester, they host a huge party at MIT and in previous years, more than 650 people attended each. Chocolate city also hosts many social networking events open to other students on campus.
