- MIT REX (Resident Exploration), which occurs during freshman orientation week, is full of fun and interesting events and activities. The goal of REX is to allow freshmen to get to know the different residential communities and living groups at MIT. Some REX events include Mexican Roulette in Random Hall, Egg Drop in East Campus, and a water war in at Burton Connor. There is absolutely no need to buy food during REX because there is an abundance of food all around campus at all hours of the day and night.
- Before classes start in each semester, many of MITs recognized student organizations promote and advertise their groups and events to incoming. This is a big chance for groups to gain new members. You should check out activities midway to know about the many groups on campus.
- The annual MIT Career Fair is well known for hosting a wide variety of companies and start-ups, some of them which were founded by MIT alums. This is a great way to get an internship for the summer or for IAP and if you are a senior, a great way to get a future job. Companies like Facebook, Dropbox, Google, JP Morgan, and Shell show up to recruit students, so make sure you bring an updated resume with you. There are companies for every major and interest.
- Every year, the MIT Student Activities Office holds a series of events during the fall for the community to enjoy a stress free environment. The Fall Festival has a different theme every year and many performances occur during this time, from comedy to jazz. The great thing is that most events are free!
