Hawaii Club MIT
The Hawaii Club of MIT is comprised mainly of students missing their tropical home, but any student is welcome to join. The club celebrates Hawaiian culture through food, dance, and social events.
In the summers, the club invites new Hawaiian MIT students to Honolulu for a picnic and the chance to meet other students from close to home before making the journey to Cambridge. Each fall, the club takes freshmen members on a shopping trip for warm clothing appropriate for chilly MIT winters. The club also cooks monthly dinners, including a large Thanksgiving celebration — returning to Hawaii for only a few days is too expensive for many students.
The club also holds an annual spring luau that is open to the public. The luau is one of the club's largest events and features food, dancing, music, and games.
