The Art of Living club at MIT aims to make MIT a stress-free place through yoga, meditation and service.
For the MIT community, the Art of Living at MIT conducts weekly yoga and meditation sessions, monthly stress management workshops & annual substance-free mind & body dance concerts as well as other community service events.
The club was created in 2005, taking inspiration from the 'Art of Living Foundation'. The club organized workshops and fundraisers in the first few years. The club hibernated for 5 years and was subsequently revived in 2012.
The club kicked off with yoga & meditation sessions in Fall 2012. These sessions were held on a weekly basis since April 2013.
And on May 16th, the club threw an extravagant substance-free Mind and Body dance party called Yoga Remix, bringing in 'Butterthief' from New York to play their unique Sanskrit Rock Chant.
The club then organized its first YesPlus leadership workshop in 2 years on July 31, 2013.
The club organizes yoga & meditation sessions, leadership & stress management workshops (yesplus) & mind-body dance parties (Yoga Remix).
Yoga Remix - A Party with a Difference
Yoga Remix 2013 took place on May 16th at Morss Hall, MIT. The substance free Mind-Body Dance Party started with a happier hour with healthy organic snacks followed by some cool partner yoga.
'Butterthief' then kicked the party into high gear with their Sanskrit rock chants.
Yoga Remix finally climaxed with a deep guided meditation led by Manish Tandon, the lead vocalist for Butterthief.
Weekly Yoga & Meditation
The club holds weekly drop-in yoga and meditation sessions every Saturday at 11am at 56-162. More info regarding this is on the club website.
The club is also starting service projects aimed at helping communities in MIT and the greater Boston area.
