Residence Exploration, commonly known as REX or Dorm Rush (or just Rush, but officially the term "Rush" now refers only to fraternity/ILG Rush, which takes place after Orientation), is a period of several days during Orientation in which all the dorms host events to attract the freshmen, and freshmen explore the dorms to decide where they want to live. REX is important in helping freshmen find a living group that is a good fit, but even for freshmen who want to stay in the same dorm they were temped in, REX is one of the most fun and exciting times of the year at MIT, and for the upperclassmen it is as much about getting to do fun things as about recruiting freshmen. Don’t miss the chance to ride a rollercoaster that’s built at East Campus during this time!
